Common questions
Yes. Most of a Lower Mainland system’s annual production comes from long, bright days between April and September, and panels still generate on cloudy days. Output drops in grey winter months, so we model annual production for your specific roof rather than promise year-round summer output.
Under BC Hydro’s new self‑generation rate, effective July 1, 2026, new customers receive 10¢/kWh for surplus electricity exported to the grid. Solar you use at home offsets electricity at your regular rate. We base your savings on your actual bill and usage.
The whole Lower Mainland — Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, North and West Vancouver, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Surrey, Delta, White Rock, Langley, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Mission, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and surrounding areas. Our BC team works out of our Vancouver office on East Kent Avenue.
Mature trees and close neighbours are common in Lower Mainland neighbourhoods. East- and west-facing roofs can also work well. Your assessment looks at roof pitch, orientation, usable area and shading before recommending a system — and we will tell you if solar is not a good fit.
Often, yes, but strata properties usually need council approval for roof changes. We can provide the system details and documentation your strata needs to make a decision.
Requirements depend on your municipality, roof structure and electrical design. We handle the electrical permit, any building permit your city requires and BC Hydro’s interconnection approval as part of the project.
Cost depends on system size, roof access, electrical upgrades and optional battery storage. Your free assessment provides an itemised proposal with production, pricing and payback based on your electricity bill — not a generic estimate.
BC Hydro offers rebates of $1,000 per kW of solar (up to $5,000 for homes) and $500 per kWh of battery storage for eligible customers, while funding lasts. Solar panels are also PST-exempt. Program terms can change, so we confirm current eligibility before including any incentive in your proposal.
No. A grid-connected solar system works without a battery when the grid is available. If backup during winter storm outages is a priority, we can assess a battery and the circuits you want supported.
Financing is subject to lender approval, interest rates and available equity. Payback depends on installation cost, BC Hydro rates, how much solar you use at home and export compensation. Your proposal shows the assumptions and applicable incentives clearly.
